Daichii To Buy U3 for $235M

(BioSpace) Daichii Sankyo bought German based U3 this morning for $235M (150M euro) and I think it’s a pretty good deal for Daichii. U3 is a mAb, receptor tyrosine kinase targeting company with a few candidates in preclinical studies (see below):

Product Description Product Type Status
U3-1287 (AMG-888)
Receptor tyrosine kinase (HER3)
Human antibody Preclinical
U3-1565 Receptor tyrosine kinase ligand Human antibody Preclinical
U3-1800 Receptor tyrosine kinase Humanized antibody Preclinical
U3-1784 Receptor tyrosine kinase Antibody Research

U3 was started by Professor Axel Ullrich of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, whose pioneering gene technology-based and oncology-focused research led to the development of the oncology blockbusters Herceptin(R) and Sutent(TM).

Can the same man hit gold twice?? I guess Daichii thinks so.
